Career-focused Capt. Kara Moretti, crackerjack RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) jockey and new commander, calls the shots for the Special Operations Aviation Regiment's (SOAR) stealth helicopter unit (aka Night Stalkers). She is used to keeping men at bay. Then Capt. Justin Roberts, a Texas cowboy who pilots his mammoth Chinook with the gutsy finesse of a rodeo star, flies onto her radar, white hat in hand. Now her safe, well-planned life gets a lot more complicated. Throw in a despicable villain, a liberal helping of humor, and a top-secret mission in the middle of the Sinai Desert that results in a heart-wrenching decision, and this popular series will have readers hooked. VERDICT Tense, technically detailed, and filled with nonstop action, this engrossing adventure highlights a heroine who needs to connect and belong. This exceptional, beautifully balanced example of military romance will appeal to fans of Suzanne Brockmann. Buchman (Zachary's Christmas) lives on the Oregon coast.

In Buchman's latest Night Stalkers novel, Brooklyn-born army-captain Kara Moretti, the RPA (remotely piloted aircraft) pilot attached to the SOAR (Special Operations Aviation Regiment) berthed on the ship Peleliu, falls for Texan Captain Justin Roberts, pilot of the unit's largest Chinook helicopter, although she tells herself it's only about great sex. Justin has other ideas. After a hilarious visit to meet the Moretti clan, they are called back into action to secretly extract a spy from an American base in Israeli territory. When Justin's Chinook is hijacked, Kara has to face hard facts: not only does she love him, she now has to shoot him down. The rest of the story concerns a stealth rescue organized by the super-warrior Delta Colonel Michael Gibson and the search for who was behind the hijacking. A great read as usual, and the second in which Buchman reverses the damsel-in-distress trope and has the woman rescue the man. Along with providing fascinating technical details and superb sex scenes, Buchman is a master of delivering romance that is as charming as plausible within a military setting. This will please his growing audience as well as fans of Suzanne Brockman, Maya Banks, Catherine Mann, and Kaylea Cross.(Reprinted with permission of Booklist, copyright 2016, American Library Association.)

Buchman's "Night Stalkers" series is high-octane military romance featuring the men and women of SOAR (160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment). When Delta troops or SEALs need to go in, or get out, SOAR gets them where they have to be and pulls their assets out of the fire--often while taking fire. These helicopter pilots are the best of the best, and no one gets accepted without years of medal-winning experience. When these men and women face the enemy together, day after day, the best fall for the best--and the army is smart enough to let them serve together. The women here are every bit the warriors that the men are. They all have the chance to rescue one another and find their happily ever after with someone who understands what they stand for and who they are. So far, there are 15 books and ebooks in this series. Buchman keeps the action going as well in two spin-offs. "Delta Force" features special ops heroes still in uniform, and "Firehawks" follows the careers of the "Night Stalkers" as they transition into civilian life as a wildfire-fighting outfit.
