That's what you do when a devastating diagnosis has numbered your days. Marcus Dillinger doesn't fit into her tidy routine, but the connection between the two is more than either can resist. Mary Catherine struggles to steer clear of Marcus; however, God's team of walking angels have other plans. When a street gang targeting Marcus accidently shoots a young boy, Angels Jag and Aspyn race against the clock to save lives, lead Marcus toward a closer relationship with God, and convince Mary Catherine that there is always time for love. The angels rejoice over their victories and anguish over what they fear may be a failed mission, yet everything is according to a divine plan. VERDICT The author's focus is not on happy endings but on how to determine God's purpose for your life, making this series different from others. Kingsbury's second installment (after Angels Walk) shines with possibilities of new love and a few tears of farewell. The second in best-selling Kingsbury's Angels Walking series takes readers into the dark side of Los Angeles' gang scene. L.A. Dodgers pitcher Marcus Dillinger decides to open a community center in a rough part of town to give kids an option to street life. His friend Mary Catherine is eager to help, and as the two grow closer through their work, sparks begin to fly. Marcus is interested in pursuing her, but Mary Catherine keeps a stubborn distance between them. The two must focus, however, on saving the lives of the youths around them who are in very real danger of being drawn into gang operations, or being killed.
